Duplex stainless steel has the characteristics of austenitic stainless steel and ferritic stainless steel because of its austenitic + ferritic biphase structure, and the content of the two phase structures is basically equivalent. The yield strength can reach 400Mpa ~ 550MPa, which is twice that of ordinary austenitic stainless steel. Compared with ferritic stainless steel, duplex stainless steel has higher toughness, lower brittleness transition temperature, and significantly improved intergranular corrosion resistance and weldability.

Chemical composition of each grade:

201 Stainless Steel Pipe: Lower nickel content, higher manganese content, lowest cost, and largest market circulation.

Advantages: Affordable price, bright appearance after polishing, good aesthetics in short-term use in dry indoor environments; easy to bend and process, suitable for low-cost decoration projects.

Disadvantages: Weaker rust resistance; prone to yellowing and pitting corrosion in rain, coastal salt spray, and humid environments; not suitable for water supply, fluid transportation, or long-term outdoor use.

Applications: Indoor shelves, door and window frames, simple indoor railings, display racks, furniture decoration, temporary workmanship components.

202 Stainless Steel Pipe: Higher nickel content than 201, slightly improved rust resistance and toughness, better resistance to slight moisture.

Advantages: Balanced cost-effectiveness; less prone to rapid rusting than 201; stable polished finish; preferred for indoor projects with limited budgets but requiring slight moisture protection.

Disadvantages: Still does not contain molybdenum; resistance to chloride ions and acids/alkalis is far inferior to 304; will still rust in long-term outdoor, humid, and enclosed environments.

Applications: Indoor stair handrails, interior decorative components, small equipment brackets, and hardware decorations for dry areas.
