S235JR ≈ Q235B: Mechanical properties are similar, but S235 has stricter impurity control and impact standards; export to the EU requires S235.

Common grade Surface (FA)

The surface of the pickling surface is allowed to have a depth (or height) not more than half of the thickness tolerance of the steel plate pitting, concave, scratches and other minor, local defects, but should ensure that the minimum allowable thickness of the steel plate and steel strip.

Higher Surface (FB)

The pickling surface is allowed to have local defects that do not affect the formability, such as slight scratches, slight indentation, slight pitting, slight roll marks and color difference.
